Zoom! Teeth Whitening FAQ's
|
How
does the Zoom! system whiten teeth?
Zoom! is a patented system that uses a bleaching gel which is activated
by a special light to quickly and effectively remove years of coffee,
tea, smoking and other stains from your teeth. First, our clinician will
mask off your lips and gums to protect them. Then we will apply the gel
and use the specially designed Zoom! light delivery system to activate
the gel. Essentially, the light causes the hydrogen peroxide in the gel
to be broken down so that oxygen is released directly into the teeth,
destroying the stains quickly. The gel is applied two more times at fifteen-minute
intervals for a total treatment time of only 45 minutes! After the final
gel is rinsed from the teeth, a fluoride treatment is applied.
This usually results in teeth that are 6 to 10 shades lighter in just
one visit!
How long does it last?
Your new, whiter smile will
usually last two to five years depending on your habits, such as drinking
coffee and tea or smoking. At that time
you may wish to get a touch up treatment. To maintain your lighter shade
it is recommended that you try and minimize contact with staining agents
such as those mentioned above; regular use of a good quality whitening
toothpaste can help to maintain your results if you just can’t
give up or cut down on your Starbucks or herbal tea. Our friendly staff
will give you plenty of information about how to best maintain your new
smile.
Is it safe?
For 90% of people it is absolutely
safe and very effective. If you have certain conditions such as periodontal
disease or worn tooth enamel,
it may not be advisable for you. Come in for a free consultation and
we’ll determine if you are a good candidate for Zoom! Whitening.
